Fourteen-year-old Sivalia Kuppen is a rising South African creative who has already made a significant impact on the international fashion scene. Reflecting on her start, the Malvern-based model shared, “At five years old, I did not understand the industry, but I understood how fashion made me feel confident, joyful and free to be myself.”

These early emotions continue to guide her career. Kuppen recently represented South Africa at the prestigious 2026 Dubai Souk International Modelling Competition, where she earned the titles of Miss Fashionista and First Princess. Competing against international talent, she stood out for her poise, elegance, and authenticity.

“Fashion became my playground for creativity,” she said. “I realised very early that clothes could tell a story without me saying a word.”

Kuppen’s journey began at just five years old in 2016 when she entered and won her very first modelling competition. Since then, she has built a portfolio rooted in confidence, individuality, and discipline—values she credits for her success on global platforms.

Preparing for the intense and rewarding Dubai competition involved refining her presentation, strengthening her confidence, and fully embracing her identity.

“When I stepped onto that international stage, I reminded myself that passion and authenticity are what truly set you apart,” she reflected.

One moment from the event was particularly meaningful. “Standing in front of such a diverse audience made me realise that fashion is a universal language,” she shared. “Hearing my name called was unforgettable, but the connection that I felt with others meant even more to me.”

Currently a learner at Westville Girls’ High School, Kuppen skillfully balances her academic responsibilities with her growing career and a wide range of creative pursuits, which include art, acting, couture designing, and dance. She views these interests not as competing demands but as complementary parts of her identity.

“School is always my main focus because education is the foundation that shapes my future,” she explained. “My creative pursuits feed into who I am and help me grow both academically and creatively.”
