Morocco’s football federation has formally rejected disciplinary sanctions imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following chaotic scenes at the Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal.
In a strongly worded statement, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF) said the penalties handed down by CAF’s Disciplinary Committee do not accurately reflect the seriousness and context of the incident, confirming that it has filed an official appeal and will pursue all available legal options.

CAF fined Morocco’s federation $315,000 for misconduct involving players, officials, and supporters. Additionally, Moroccan stars Achraf Hakimi and Ismael Saibari were handed suspensions from CAF competitions.
Senegal also faced heavy punishment. The Senegalese Football Federation was fined $615,000, while head coach Pape Thiaw received a five-match CAF ban and a $100,000 fine. Two Senegalese players were also suspended.
The sanctions stem from incidents during the January 18 final, which included a walk-off by Senegal’s team and a pitch invasion by supporters, plunging the match into disorder.
As Morocco challenges the ruling, CAF has yet to issue a public response, setting the stage for a potentially high-profile legal and administrative showdown in African football governance.
